Closing ceremony and a few memories

To say the closing ceremony was epic, is not doing it full justice. It was fun, inclusive, relaxed and Kylie Minogue was live!! I was able roam around and say to many of my old friends and new alike.

I have enjoyed my Glasgow 2014 experience and would not have missed it for anything! Still disappointed I didn't get a score to place me higher considering the performance and effort I put in. Onwards and upwards!

As this chapter wraps up a new inevitably starts. My marriage to Sheree Cox is only a mear 19 days away. We have prepared and planned as well as possible (we think!) and look forward to our special day!

Keep well all and speak soon.

Dave :-)

Goodbye Barry Buddon CWG 2014

My last day of Barry Buddon, Dundee and the Commonwealth Games Satellite Village. It's been emotional to say the least!

Firstly, thank you everyone who has helped, supported, shown interest and wished me well! It was awesome and really helped make the games for me extra special.

I finished my match in 12th place, a few small points adrift the final. My performance and shot delivery was as good as I have ever managed. My wind timing was slightly of and this resulted in not getting high quality 10's.

Attached are a few photos of the supports we had, Sam helping plot shots for the full bore guys, and my last selfie looking back to the range.
A fab facility that was finished and made comfortable for the competition, a shame it is being demolished and most of the equipment is leaving the UK.

Looking forward to experiencing the Games village now!! Closing ceremony soon and can't wait for that experience!

Woop!

Have fun... Dave

Prep for day 1

The ranges have taken on a new look over the last few days. The workforce have done wonderful things to spruce up the area and complete most of the finishing touches ready for first day of competition.
Spectator plaza and medal ceremony area is well on its way (at time of pics) paths laid down, shrubbery brought in and placed, extra security layers added, sign posts up!!
We are all looking forward to the competition starting and the chance to perform and shine!

The opening ceremony

I'm sitting on the bus, having just been to my 4th Commonwealth Games opening ceremony. The importance, the significance, the drive and passion are still as strong as ever.
Well done Glasgow 2014 for putting on a spectacular show, for making us all feel welcome, for making the march to the stadium as slick as possible. Thank you!
Was especially fab to meet up with Sheree, my wife to be (in 30 days!!) at the end of the ceremony. I'll have to get the "selfie" from her phone at some point tomorrow ;-)
It would appear the cameras were brave and showed me waving! Fabulous! That was me waving to you. My family, my friends, my supporters, my sponsors, to those who read this and wish me well. Thank you all.

Training.

Today was the penultimate day of unofficial training prior to the competition starting. No shooting for me tomorrow as we'll be traveling bus bus / coach over to Glasgow for the opening ceremony! Lots of pictures tomorrow I promise!! :-D
The main outcome from today - my kit is all legal and rule compliant, with official Glasgow2014 stickers!! Woop woop!

Chilling n relaxing with loads of peeps in the athlete lounge. That could be read as highly competitive pool playing!! ;-)

Have fun all!

Winner!!

The winner of the "spot the difference" competition was Chris White! Happily receiving his team Wales pin badge on the range today.
We also have Mike Bamsey doing his best for international relations by keeping parts of the Scottish team warm. We thought this was the best of many suggested options ;-)
Training today was a really mixed bag of shooting really well with the wind and then firing some with poor delivery :-\ However alls well that ends well and hopefully that's the naff bit done and dusted!! :-D
Will try n get some more pics tomorrow at the range!!
Opening ceremony on Wednesday and that will be my first visit to the village!! Woop woop!!

Keep well all!

Dave

A light drizzle!

Forecast says "light" drizzle / rain.... Reality is bucketing it down so heavy you can't hear the person next to you talking and a few drops of rain here n there!!
All in a good days training!! :-)
Also is a pic of Rob, poised n ready, camera on standby!!

Dynamic duo!?

Just a couple of pics today, our luggage tags arrived today! Very useful for bag identification when travelling ;-)

A nice picture of Mike and myself training next to each other today. No our jackets are not quite matching!! There some subtle differences between them! Honest. A team Wales pin badge to the person who spots the most differences!!

(pin subject to delivery UK!!)

Have fun all!!

Early Training days!

Wednesday 16th,
Well, missed the bus this morning to the range! Mental note for future... Triple check bus times for the correct day! So spent a good morning playing pool and catching up with Mike!
Heading down the range for lunch and some shooting this afternoon. See how different the range is opposed to the morning sessions.
Windy!! With some rain and sunshine. Typical British (Scottish) weather then. Shooting was fun and enjoyable and mostly on target to!!
Was nice to see Sheree and I on TV being interviewed about something here at the Commonwealth Games and about getting married a few weeks after!!

we also had a little corridor decorating session ;-)

Have fun :-D
