News...

(Picture from BBC web site)

There are plenty of news stories regarding the up coming games, unfortunately a lot of them are not so good or positive at the moment. There seems to be troubles, questions and statements flying left, right and center - all about the village and the safety and well being of those attending.
As an athlete who has been looking forward to the competition and been preparing for over two years, it is, lets say - slightly unsettling and un-nerving to see these reports. Having said that, in general the mood of the Welsh contingent there already seems fairly positive :)

"We have given the Organising Committee a deadline of this evening to confirm if all venues and the Games Village are fit for purpose" (quote from link)

Some Quotes from this BBC Sport web page...

"Team Scotland have delayed their departure to India because of problems with the athletes' village."

"Part of the village is in a very poor condition and a very poor state of maintenance. There have been dogs roaming around the village, the apartments are filthy and there are piles of rubble lying around."

"Australia's discus world champion Dani Samuels said on Monday she would not be travelling to Delhi, citing security and health concerns, and Australia sports minister Mark Arbib warned more athletes could follow Samuels's lead."

"And New Zealand's prime minister said he would support any of his country's athletes who did not attend."

And more recently from team wales...

Wales bosses delay Games decision

"Wales' Commonwealth Games team bosses are expected to make a final decision on Thursday whether Delhi event venues and accommodation are ready and safe."

A lotta things to make us all think about and concider?!?!

At the moment I think:
- The ranges were in decent useable condition in February - So thats a GO!!
- The Accomodation block Wales has seems OK - So thats a GO!!
- Reports of the food hall seem OK - So thats a GO!!
- Security reports have been mixed, but nothing to bad so far - So thats a maybe??

- Enough GO's for me (at the moment)

Dave :)
